Schäfer Airport Retail has opened two new Move consumer electronics stores at Stuttgart and Nürnberg International Airports.

A 70sq m store has commenced trading in Stuttgart Airport Terminal 3 and a 35sq m outlet is now operating in Nürnberg opposite the main duty free store. Both outlets have strong visibility with Stuttgart Airport Terminal 3 home to airlines including Lufthansa, Air France, SAS, British Airways, Aer Lingus and Air Baltic. The Nürnberg outlet is positioned for all departing passengers to walk by.

John Woodhouse, Managing Partner, Schäfer Airport Retail said: “The Stuttgart store has a superb location for a consumer electronics store and its size has allowed for a full gaming zone, including a Playstation demo zone. “This will be particularly popular with GenZ travellers looking to pass 20 minutes before they hop on a flight. As with our store in Düsseldorf, we have built a brand zone for this Stuttgart location, which we will use for new product launches.

”OWN MOVE ACCESSORIES RANGE" each store in Stuttgart and Nürnberg features JBL, Sony, Sennheiser, Ultimate Ears, Apple, Samsung, Pantone and Logitech electronics products, in addition to Schäfer’s own range of electronic Move accessories.

The 35sq m Nürnberg Airport outlet features the companys latest design iteration and is located opposite the main duty free store. Travel bags from Wenger and Thule are also available, along with a full range of travel adapters from Go and cables and phone accessories from SBS. Space is also dedicated to Schäfer Airport Retail’s newly launched PPE brand, Interhealth. The larger space at Stuttgart has a games zone and a gadgets zone, featuring products from Playstation, ORB, Mobility on board, Lexon, Xtorm, Beurer, Necklacy, Fresh’n Rebel and Fun Factory.

Digital displays feature prominently in both new Move outlets, with the store back walls featuring large screens. These show digital content managed centrally, creating theatre and atmosphere in-store. This is part of a strategic agreement between Samsung and Schäfer Travel Retail. Each store features JBL, Sony, Sennheiser, Ultimate Ears, Apple, Samsung, Pantone and Logitech electronics products, along with Schäfer’s own range of electronic Move accessories. Employees with relevant product knowledge are available in both stores, while additional product information can be taken from QR codes in-store that link to a product overview. This ensures all technical questions can be answered.

On the Nürnberg store, Woodhouse commented: “Nürnberg features our latest design iteration, with the store furniture a shade darker to allow the brands to stand out even more. This new presence completes a great journey for Schäfer Airport Retail at the airport. “Our path has taken us from four skus on a shelf, to a gondola, shop-in-shop in the main duty free store and to this this great standalone shop operated by the airport retail company. "

Necessary measures are in place to ensure customers feel safe in the Move outlets at both airports. Hand sanitiser stations are available and cleaning is carried out extensively throughout the day, according to Schäfer Airport Retail. Regarding the future prospects of the new stores, Woodhouse remains optimistic, despite the current state of the travel market amid coronavirus.

A games zone and gadgets zone are key elements of the new Stuttgart Airport Move store. He remarked: “Travel retail in Germany is tough at the moment, with traffic currently at less than 80% of last year’s levels, but we are approaching the market with a prudent, glass half-full attitude. “Our store investments are for the future as the business will recover. We are certain people will eventually travel again in great numbers.”
